So far so good! we are using it to carry our 70 pound disabled child and it is working well - great invention and very well designed! Thanks for dreaming this up - been a savior for us!
The good: Easy to adjust even while wearing it. Light weight. High weight limit. They now include the stirups which minimized how much I got kicked. Still got kicked though. The bad: The pockets are tough to open and close because they are flimsy. They also have large bolts in them which makes me nervous to store a phone and cuts into the already minimal storage space. But the deal breaker for me was that my child was in pain as I strapped him in and out because of the way the frame protrudes when on a flat surface. This made it really tricky and a bit traumatic to get him in as he cried in pain. It might be better if I had someone there to help, but for solo hikes it's not ideal. If it weren't for the $50 I would have to pay to "restock" I would likely return it. I will try it again and see if I can find a better way to load him in without hurting him.
This carrier has been perfect for our bigger than average two-year old, who at 24 months already weighs 37 pounds. We desperately wanted to go on longer hikes with our kiddo, but traditional hiking baby carriers max out around 40 pounds, making it not worth the investment. The Freeloader gives us a much longer window for use - plus, it’s comfortable on (especially if you’re familiar with properly wearing hiking packs - otherwise it might take some getting used to), evenly distributes weight and my kid seems comfortable too. We’d definitely recommend!
We have a child with cerebral palsy and has been researching for a suitable child carrier so that we can go for hikes together. Firstly, the customer service is excellent - with prompt replies and kind consideration to our request. The info on the website is accurate and easy to follow for us to get to the correct size. The shipment went out quickly and arrived less than 2 weeks even though we are halfway around the world. Finally, the carrier's quality is outstanding! It has all the necessary support and yet doesn't weigh a ton. Really impressive! We used it for a hike almost immediately and our child was comfortable and excited in it and so was dad! This is the start to many more hikes we will have as a family. Thank you Freeloader team!
It took a bit to get it adjusted for my kiddo- she has a lot of physical issues/limitations and slides back on the seat. So I wish there was a way for her to stay more upright. But other than that it was wonderful and really helped to make our camping trip so much easier!
Hello Rachel! Thanks for taking the time and leaving a review! Have you had a chance to look at out Support Strap? It could assist with what you described. Thanks and I hope you have a great holiday!
